Today’s Lunch: Ramen with Poached Eggs and Vegetables

Today, I experimented with making some Japanese ramen and its accompanying soup for the noodles. Here’s how it looks:

Looks really good. Unfortunately, I made a mistake and broke the egg. Otherwise, the presentation would have looked really perfect.

I got the recipe from Youtube. Unfortunately, I don’t have many of the ingredients needed to make the ramen soup. It’s a combination of soya sauce, sugar, white white (to substitute mirin), and water. I omitted dashi because I don’t have any. If I had more time, I’d probably try making ikan bilis (some small fish) broth as a substitute for it.

It was good, though I think it would have tasted better with the dashi (or some equivalent).

It’s a different way to cook lunch in place of the usual boring instant noodles.
